Block of the Month 1999-2000

Make one block, win 12. Your name goes in a hat once per block contributed. Designs, colors and themes are chosen so that individual blocks will coordinate easily and each month will tap a different kind of quilting to try to intrigue all of you.

November15: Fall Roads Drawing will be held at the November 15th meeting. Instructions in last issue.

December 6: Winter Nights In this issue.

Block of the Month: Winter Nights Drawing December 6

House blockWin a village of houses glowing warm and snug on a winters night. Your name goes into the hat for each block you submit. A pattern for an 8" square finished block (8 l/2" unfinished) is provided. Cut the pattern into templates, use it for foundation piecing, or rotary cut. There are no seam allowances shown! Add them! Any form of applique is OK, too.

Think blue. Raid your scrap basket for different prints for the house's front, side, and roof. The sky can be a night blue, snowy day blue, starry blue, whatever.

The lights are on and welcoming: let the windows and doors be yellow or even orange.

The house can face the other way or use your own pattern and give it different architecture; just make it finish at 8" square (8 1/2" with seam allowances.) Contribute 2 or 3 strips of the prints you use, about 2.5 x 9 " so the winner can make sashing.
